The Meaning of Avodah
Avodah is a Hebrew word used throughout the Old Testament. Here are several examples.
Work
Gen 2:15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate/tend/work (avodah) it and tend it.
Worship
Isa 19:21 ... and they will even worship (avodah) with sacrifice and offering, and will make a vow to the LORD and perform it.
Exo 3:12 And He said, “Assuredly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship (avodah) God at this mountain.”
Service
Jos 24:15 “….. but as for me and my house, we will serve (avodah) the LORD.”
Why Avodah?
Avodah is a Hebrew word meaning "work, worship, and service."
"Avodah" is a picture of an integrated faith. A life where work and worship come from the same root and foundation.
So often, we think of worship as something we do on Sunday and work as something we do on Monday. On the other hand, Avodah suggests that our work can be a form of worship where we honor the Lord God and serve those around us.
That is our vision for this company. "Work hard," worship God in our work," and "serve the people around us in our work." We believe that we are to improve everyone's life that we come in contact with! We are all part of a kingdom that is much larger than any one of us. Much larger than we can even imagine! God has called you and me to something far greater than what we can accomplish ourselves. He has put each one of us in the place and position we are in for a specific reason. By walking in His ways with honesty, humility, integrity, respect, transparency, and genuinely caring for one another, we can reach heights unattainable in and of ourselves.
Our desire is for our company to be a beacon that stands out in the world around us. A group of people working "heartily" as a team, creating unsurpassed value for every customer. Also, bringing value to every vendor and partner, we are working with on a regular basis. Not only bringing value but leaving a permanent positive impression that will last longer than any structure we can build.
To do this, we invest deeply into ourselves and the people around us. Constantly improving and working on our own lives, which in turn creates a ripple effect that rolls out and helps carry along the people surrounding us to greater heights. Doing the small things correctly every day will add up and make a big difference over an extended period of time.
We look forward to working with you!
